Job Summary

The Sr Director, Patient Services will provide strategic and operational leadership over Patient Services within the Commercial department. This role will be responsible for developing and executing the patient services strategy and patient support programs that ensure timely access to therapy, reimbursement assistance, and patient advocacy. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in rare diseases, patient access, and specialty product distribution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Services Strategy

  • Develop & manage the Patient Services strategy and tactics.
  • Build a solid promotional offering, leveraging the Viltepso value proposition and key marketing concepts to stakeholders.
  • Build a patient-centric strategy managing all access levers to drive a competitive advantage focusing on the patient.
  • Examine data and HUB case notes on an ongoing basis to uncover insights and translate recommendations for process improvement and enhanced field execution.
  • Responsible for managing the HUB / financial support programs, developing patient services strategy and tactics to ensure achievement of financial targets while supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Provide guidance and direction to both the Patient Engagement and Patient Access Leads, ensuring field activities are aligned with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Serve as the patient assistance program expert for NS Pharma.
  • Work with the Patient Services reimbursement team to ensure access for every patient. This requires a highly motivated individual that works cross-functionally with Marketing, Market Access, Operations, and National Sales.

Patient Access Strategy

  • Build the Patient Access strategy and tactics to deliver data that drives access strategy and supports financial planning and patient services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Must maintain HIPAA compliance, protect PHI.
  • Educate Stakeholders, Communicate Value, Patient First Mentality.
  • Lead the Site of Care access strategy for all products in the portfolio.
  • Senior launch presenter for Patient Services and Advocacy.

Patient Advocacy

  • Develop, build and sustain valued partnerships between patient advocates/advocacy organizations while helping architect new programs and update current programs, all in an effort to identify and support rare disease patient advocates.
  • Travel to Advocacy-related events and ensure that NS Pharma is well represented.
  • Efficiently manage the relevant event calendar and participate in discussions and agendas, to help promote the tools and resources that are being made available to the community.
  • A broad understanding of the rare disease landscape will be important.

Patient Engagement Leads (PEL)

  • Responsible for the recruitment, training, and ongoing management of the Patient Engagement Leads (PELs).
  • Ensures that PELs are educating patients/families on the steps required to gain access to therapy (site of care logistics, understanding of payer policy and procedure, and other support services).
  • Managing PEL cross-functional collaboration to identify and support the resolution of patient access barriers including insurance coverage, reimbursement, financial limitations, site of care, procurement/distribution issues.
  • Responsible for oversight of PEL travel and participation in patient advocate events throughout the year.

Supervisory Responsibility
Provide strategic and operational leadership for the entire Patient Services department. Oversee the development and performance management of direct reports and other employees.

Qualifications

  • Marketing, Market Access, Patient Services, Pharma/Biotech, Pharma Services, Startup experience, Consulting preferred.
  • Must have an understanding of reimbursement experience in part B, Buy and Bill experience with a strong marketing / launch experience.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and partner with colleagues across the organization to collaboratively build business insights.
  • Must possess excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Experience managing external vendor relationships a plus.
  • Mature person who is conscientious, detail-oriented, and highly organized with the ability to schedule and complete a significant amount of work within time requirements; is able to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team to accomplish his/her tasks; and possesses project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and be comfortable providing feedback to staff and/or vendors that they may manage.
  • Express conclusions or information in a clear, concise, and friendly manner on a level understandable to the audience to which it is intended is critical.
  • Must be proactive with lots of initiative.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and prioritize workloads.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases.
  • Ability to travel 25%-50%.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in the rare disease pharmaceutical reimbursement space, medical benefit / Part B, biotech/specialty pharmaceutical manufacturer or payers and/or relevant consulting experience.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience leading teams in Marketing, Market Access and/or Patient Services.
  • HUB Pharmacy management experience a plus.
